Directions of Research The main scientific directions of the department are: - Geology of hydrothermal deposits; - Geology of combustible minerals; - Gemological evaluation of gemstones; - Geology of placer deposits;
- Petroarchaeology; - Palaeontology of Ediacaran fauna; - Geotourism. Yurii Khomenko, at the beginning of his scientific career, worked in the field of mineralogical criteria identification for the division of granitoids of the Ukrainian Shield. In the sequel, he dedicated his research work to the problems of evaluation of deposits of various mineral raw materials as potential gemmological objects that can be developed simultaneously. Serhii Shevchenko works in the field of gemmology, researching gemstones. S.V. Shevchenko is a head of the Gemmological Scientific School and the director of the Gemmological Centre. Oleksandr Polashov is engaged in the study of coal, namely the structural and phase transformations of coal during the change of barothermal conditions. Natalia Bilan works in the field of geological study of hydrothermal deposits. Olha Tereshkova studies the geology of placer mineral deposits. Scientific works of Ihor Nikitenko are devoted to the petroarhaeology – the petrographic study of stone artefacts. Dmytro Prykhodchenko performs research in the field of coal petrography and develops geotouristic scientific direction. Yevheniia Soldatenko provides studies of the palaeontology of Ediacaran fauna. |
